I Want to Book
Booking opens for the next term once the current term is on or after week 3. Spaces are first offered to those on the waiting list. Those on the waiting list have a 24-hour window to secure their space before it is offered to the next person and/or publicly advertised. If you cannot book a spot the class is either full, not open for booking yet or we are working through our waiting list. Once you have a space it is your's until you have completed training to a level you are happy with. For over half of our students it becomes a hobby with many remaining for years.
Cost & Details
Cost: 6-week course, 55-minutes per class. £95 booking online to secure a space, maximum of 6 per class
Start age: All ages are welcome, it is a myth that an old dog can't learn new tricks. Puppies can start as soon as possible after the first vaccine at the owner's discretion.
Vaccinations: All canines attending group classes must be up to date with core vaccines DHP & LEPTO. Puppies must have started the course and show the vaccine card on completion.
Equipment: Clicker and treats, plus more: You will receive info via email once you book. Clickers can be purchased for £4
Method: Positive reinforcement and marker training utilising a clicker, used in all PPDTC classes. Clicker training creates clear communication and accelerates learning. Think of it as a precise way to say 'YES, I like that!'.
My dog doesn't get on with other dogs: Classes are not a suitable environment. Please get in touch to ask about your options.

What do I Learn?
There are EIGHT levels to work through which complement the Kennel Club Scheme tests plus inject some extras. Take a look below for more information on the exercises covered. Exercises that are repeated across levels progress in difficulty to achieve a higher standard of training. You are provided with more information on these exercises once you have signed up for a class.
Puppies & Beginners: Level One & Two to start you off
Intermediate & Advanced dogs: Level Three and above will challenge your training skills and keep you advancing.
PPDTCS TESTS
How to pass levels 3+ Awards are given out approximately every 12-weeks. Each student needs to demonstrate each skill a minimum of 3-separate times to pass each exercise.

KENNEL CLUB GOOD CITIZEN DOG SCHEME: KCGCDS.
Pooch Paws Dog Training Club is a Kennel Club-listed club.
“The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme is the largest dog training programme in the UK. Now a well-established dog training programme that has been in operation since 1992. The Scheme is open to all dogs, young or old, pedigree or Crossbreed, whether Kennel Club registered or not.”
To sit for any KCGCDS test there has to be a minimum of 4 owners ready and willing to take the test, and an outside examiner has to be pre-booked, which is subject to availability. There is a cost of per handler/dog team to sit the test, which usually takes place on weekends only. You may not be tested within the group of dogs you are usually training with or at the usual time of your class.

BELANINO GUNDOG TRAINING SCHEME
Bellanino students work towards a separate 5-tiered training scheme.
Puppies and beginners work through Levels 1 & 2, laying firm foundations to work to a higher standard.
The training involves a mixture of whistle work, control (including distances at higher levels), obedience, impulse control and retrieves. The more training that is achieved, results in learning more complex training. The full list of targets is available upon signing up for a course or workshop.
Events include a regular weekly class at St Olaves plus gundog workshops in the field which include water training in the lighter months.
