Let me Guide you to Implement Positive Behaviour Changes
If you are feeling drained, tired, confused, or at your wits' end, share the burden and let Katey help you! Everyone experiences issues from time to time. Katey is renowned for her empathy and non-judgmental personality when it comes to helping owners!
Hi, I’m Katey Aldred
Clinical Animal Behaviourist, Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) and full member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC).
My work is rooted in:
- Evidence-based behaviour science
- Ethical, welfare-focused practice
- Collaboration with veterinary professionals
- Clear communication and realistic expectations
I work with both dogs and cats and specialise in complex behaviour cases where safety, emotion and quality of life matter.

Helping dogs and their people through fear, anxiety, reactivity, aggression and other behaviour challenges with a clear, structured process and professional support throughout.
I offer evidence-based behaviour programmes designed to prioritise welfare, safety and long-term change, not quick fixes.
You can either:
- Follow a guided Behaviour Booking Pathway (recommended for most clients), or
- Book behaviour support directly if you already know what you need.
Both options lead to the same professional behaviour support, the difference is how much guidance you want at the start of the booking process.
Choose How You’d Like to Get Started
Option 1: Behaviour Booking Pathway (Recommended)
The Behaviour Booking Pathway is a guided process that helps ensure:
- Behaviour support is appropriate for your dog and your circumstances
- Expectations are clear from the outset
- Veterinary involvement is correctly in place
- You book the right level of support for your dog
This option is ideal if:
- You’re unsure which behaviour programme is right for you
- You want clarity before committing to sessions
- Your dog’s behaviour feels complex or overwhelming
- You want a clear, step-by-step process (this is self guided)
Option 2: Book Behaviour Support Directly
If you’re confident you’re ready to proceed, you can book behaviour support directly without completing the pathway first.
This option is suitable if:
- You’re happy with the appointment availability listed below
- You understand that a veterinary referral is required
- You understand the behaviour questionnaire will not be read without an assessment programme booking
- You’re ready to begin behaviour support without additional guidance beforehand

Important Information Before Booking
Please read this section carefully before choosing either option.
Appointment Availability
- Behaviour sessions currently take place on Tuesdays and Fridays
- Appointment times are typically during the day
- Availability is limited and allocated on a first-come basis
If you cannot attend on these days, behaviour support may not be suitable at this time.
Online & In-Person Sessions
- Some behaviour cases must begin online, particularly where there is risk of human-directed aggression or significant fear
- Online sessions allow safety measures and management strategies to be put in place before any in-person work
- In-person sessions may be introduced later if appropriate and safe to do so
This approach prioritises welfare, safety and ethical practice.
Locations
- Home visits are limited, available only on select days
- A surcharge applies for home visits
- Not all cases are suitable for home visits
- In-person assessments are at a secure field in Blundeston
- Once appropriate sessions can be held at Gorleston Cliffs
Please do not assume home visits are automatically included.
How Behaviour Support Works
Whether you choose the pathway or book directly, the behaviour support process follows these principles:
- Clear information gathering
Including a detailed behaviour questionnaire and history - Veterinary involvement where appropriate
Behaviour concerns often have medical, emotional or pain-related components - Professional assessment
Conducted online, in the field, or via submitted video footage, depending on the case - Tailored behaviour plan
Grounded in learning theory, welfare science and realistic expectations - Follow-up support
Ongoing guidance to help you implement changes safely and effectively
Behaviour change takes time. My role is to guide, support and educate, not to judge or rush the process.
Katey only works with owners committed to implementing change, requiring a commitment to a minimum of 3 sessions. Each programme includes:
- A behaviour assessment
- A report with behaviour plan
- An online account for all notes and the plan
- Follow-up appointments (minimum of 2)
You can choose from 4 different support programmes.
Appointments are unlocked upon booking.
Appointment options: In-person programme, online programme OR assessment online and in-person follow-up sessions.
Katey only takes on 4-new behaviour cases per month. If you need help get in touch as soon as possible to avoid a delay in starting your behaviour programme.

After Booking
Ensure you complete these steps
Veterinary Referral
For all behaviour cases, veterinary involvement is essential.
This helps to:
- Rule out or address medical contributors
- Ensure behaviour modification is safe and appropriate
- Meet professional and ethical standards of practice
If you follow the Behaviour Booking Pathway, you’ll be guided through how and when to request a veterinary referral.
If you book directly, will need to arrange a referral after booking and before your assessment.
Your veterinary practice may require an up to date veterinary examination if you have not been seen recently.
Having trouble obtaining a referral? Get in touch to chat it over.
Book your Appointments
Ensure you fully read your booking confirmation email. This will contain a unique code for you to book all of your appointments to secure your times slots.
- Session 1 = 90-minute assessment session
- Session 2 = First follow-up appointment and presentation of your report
- Session 3 onwards = follow-ups to tweak work and build on progress or changes
Follow-ups are to empower you to make changes, re-assess your progress and make any tweaks that are needed.
When are the appointment times?
Currently Tue and Fri morning until approximately mid-day Hours may differ for in-person sessions during the summer heat.
Behaviour Questionnaire & Veterinary Referral
Once you have made your enquiry and Katey has taken you on, you will complete a behaviour questionnaire. You will be navigated to a page where you can then access programme booking.
Questionnaires will not be read if a booking is not complete. In addition, your veterinarian may need to send a referral form prior to your appointment.
How many appointments will it take to fix my issue?
Unfortunately, there is not a one size fits all as this depends on many factors: health status, how long the issue/s have been present, how many issues are present, how much you commit to making changes, how consistent you and your family are (to name but a few).
I don't think Zoom is suitable as you won't get to 'see' the problem behaviour
It is a myth that the behaviourist needs to see and experience the behaviour issue as this is in fact detrimental to the dog and to the working relationship. In addition, where there are cases of human aggression the assessor's safety is a priority. You can provide videos if you wish of the behaviours being experienced. These should only be filmed when the opportunity arises and should not be incited.
HELP: My Dog has bitten a person!
Dog bites vary in severity and the severity of a bite can lead to the owner being prosecuted, as such each case is considered on its own merit. If the bite is severe you may be referred to another professional and you may need specific legal help/advice.
I need help with my cat/s
Please take a read through all the information below. The structure and cost is the same for all species. Cat programmes are delivered via online sessions. Not currently taking cat cases
Where are the sessions?
Live and online or in-person. In-person locations include a secure field in Blundeston, Lowestoft OR Gorleston cliffs. There is small availability for follow-ups only at St.Olaves village hall 8pm on select dates. Visit the contact page for details of online software for vido calls.
Do you do home visits?
Home visits are currently very limited, where they occur additional charges apply. Scroll below for more information.
How can I pay?
All payments are taken in advance via the booking system, you can pay securely with a card.
Can I pay on the day?
We require all bookings to be made a week in advance and have a strict cancellation policy.
Can I pay a different way?
We will accept cash or cheque as long as the funds are received and cleared before booking an appointment. Please get in touch to enquire.
How can I book further support programme?
You will be sent these details once you have finished your current programme.
Can I claim on my insurance?
You need to check the specific requirements with your insurance company and ask which associations they require the behaviourist to be joined to. You must do this prior to making a commitment to booking. Katey is a full member of the APBC and a Registered Veterinary Nurse, which usually meets the requirements needed. Usually, your referring veterinary practice will need to complete your insurance form.
Can I claim directly on insurance?
You are required to purchase your programme and claim the fee to be paid back to you.
